Abstract

Bu çalışmada, sözde soykırım iddialarının Ermeni kimliğinin oluşumundaki yerini ve işlevini incelemekte ve bu işlev içinde diasporanın rolünü tartışmaktadır. Bu çerçevede kimi sosyoloji teorileri ve ilkselci, durumcu ve yapısalcı gibi etnisite teorileri ile kimlik ve diaspora tartışmaları ele alınmaktadır. Bu teorilerden bazılarına göre, ulusal kimliğin belirlenmesi ya da pekiştirilmesi, ortak geçmiş, ortak dil, din, ırk ve kan bağı gibi belirleyicilere dayandığı gibi, mitsel hikayelere, edebi eserlere ve sembollere de dayandırılabilir. Bu noktada, Ermeni diyasporasının, mitsel soykırım iddialarına dayanarak Ermeni ulusal kimliğinin devamını ve etnisitenin bekasını sağlama çabasında olduğu tartışılmaktadır.
