Abstract

The aim of this work was to study the technological properties (physical and mechanical) of five forest species wood of industrial concern in the Province of Misiones (Argentina): Kiri (Pawlonia tomentosa), Grevillea (Grevillea robusta), Loro blanco (Bastardiopsis densiflora), Paraiso (Melia azederach) and Hovenia (Hovenia dulcis) from plantations of the Department of Eldorado. The physical properties studied were: moisture content, Density, Retractions (shrinkage); and the mechanical properties determined were: Static flexion, shear, cleavage, hardness and compression. Physical properties studied gave very interesting values that qualify this species appropriate for remanufacture works. Similar behaviour has been observed in the mechanical properties measurements, presenting appropriate technological characteristics to use these species as raw material after sawing processes. Analysed specimens had ages among 18 to 20 years, and were extracted from commercial plantations without silvicultural treatments.
