Changes that take place in the field of authority and responsibility inevitably seem to evoke attitudes marked by egoism, penchant for lawlessness and the lack of responsibility for oneself and others in young generation, especially. A lot of pedagogical circles grapple with a serious problem of keeping the correct sense of proportion in autonomy that a young person deserves and expectations and duties set up for them that they have to respect in the name of their own and social good. No wonder that the need to re-establish the authority in upbringing assumes growing importance. Thus, the understanding of the concept of authority and its relation to the responsibility in upbringing is worth exploring. The article raises an issue that would allow parents and form teachers to understand the correct scope of responsibility for young generation and the source, the ways of establishing, exercising and protecting their authority against trends that decrease its instructive value and importance in young people’s lives.
