The purpose of the text is to present Antoni Poćwierz – an exquisite organist, teacher, folklorist, and above all composer, who died at the end of the last century. His long-standing associations with the district of Cieszyn influenced the trend in his work inspired by the folklore of this region. The author of the article characterizes the sound language of the artist and the means of artistic expression employed in some songs, and classifies compositions based on folk music. She focuses on three selected songs from Cieszyn region for mixed choir and piano accompaniment. In addition to the analysis of the harmony, melody, rhythm and lyrics, the article contains information on the interpretation of the songs and difficulties that may be encountered by the conductor while working on the performance, in which case the author draws on personal experience of her own.
