Taxas de juro como instrumento de controle da inflação

Abstract

Esta tese explora o papel das taxas de juro como instrumento de controlo da inflação. Analisa-se a teoria económica subjacente à utilização das taxas de juro pelas autoridades monetárias, com particular enfoque na função do banco central europeu. A pesquisa inclui uma revisão da literatura entre as taxas de juro e a inflação, e analisa estudos de caso de diversas economias para ilustrar como variações nas taxas de juro influenciam a estabilidade dos preços. Adicionalmente, a tese avalia a eficácia das políticas monetárias baseadas nas taxas de juro em diferentes contextos económicos e financeiros. Conclui-se que, embora as taxas de juro sejam uma ferramenta relevante para a gestão da politica monetária, a sua eficácia depende de uma série de fatores, incluindo a credibilidade do banco central europeu, a estrutura económica do mercado único europeu e a conjuntura global.
