Abstract

O ensino da leitura, para ser eficaz, envolve o conhecimento de aspectos específicos da aprendizagem da leitura, bem como de métodos e técnicas do domínio da didáctica. Entre os primeiros, conta-se o conhecimento da génese e funcionamento do sistema alfabético de escrita, das relações entre a fala e a escrita e conhecimentos de fonologia. É também crucial perceber o papel da automaticidade no reconhecimento de palavras, e da fluência, na compreensão de texto, entre outros. Quanto aos métodos, é necessário ter informação sobre a forma mais eficaz de ensinar a ler, tendo em conta a arquitectura do sistema alfabético, os processos cognitivos que sustentam a aprendizagem da leitura e os limites da memória no processamento da informação escrita. Sem esquecer, naturalmente, o impacto emocional e relacional que a aprendizagem da leitura (e, principalmente, o seu fracasso) tem nas crianças.
