Abstract

A língua portuguesa é, atualmente, a nona mais falada no mundo, contando com cerca de 300 milhões de falantes, dos quais mais de 250 milhões têm o português como língua materna. É a língua oficial de nove países distribuídos por vários continentes — Angola, Brasil, Cabo Verde, Timor-Leste, Guiné-Bissau, Guiné Equatorial, Moçambique, Portugal e São Tomé e Príncipe — e conta ainda com cerca de 10 milhões de falantes em diáspora pelo mundo.
