Correlatos neurocognitivos do comportamento alimentar em adolescentes

Abstract

Alterações nas funções executivas podem estar associadas a comportamentos alimentares problemáticos e consequente aumento de peso. O objetivo desta investigação é explorar se a relação entre o comportamento alimentar problemático e as dificuldades na memória de trabalho e controlo inibitório variam em função do peso e população adolescente (comunitária versus clínica) e se a relação entre dificuldades de regulação emocional e comportamentos alimentares variam em função das funções executivas. Neste estudo transversal, foram avaliados 31 adolescentes (amostra clínica) e 148 (amostra comunitária) entre os 13 e 18 anos, através de questionários de autorrelato online. Foram realizados testes de diferenças, exploradas correlações e modelos de moderação. Os resultados indicam não existir diferenças significativas entre os percentis de Índice de Massa Corporal (IMC) ao nível das funções executivas, em ambas as amostras. Na amostra comunitária, as dificuldades nas funções executivas associam-se fortemente (rs > .47) a mais petisco contínuo. Nesta amostra revela-se o papel moderador da memória de trabalho na relação entre as dificuldades de regulação emocional e o comportamento de petisco (R² = 0.23). Estudos futuros podem explorar relações causais entre o funcionamento executivo (até com outras funções) e o petisco contínuo, e como estas se alteram ao longo do tempo.
