Estudos de ecotoxicidade de poluentes ambientais: PAHs e nitro-PAHs

Abstract

Os incêndios florestais são uma das principais causas da deterioração da qualidade da água nas áreas de montanha, sendo que, o processo de combustão gera enormes quantidades de dióxido de carbono, metais e vários grupos de compostos orgânicos como, dioxinas, hidrocarbonetos aromáticos policíclicos (PAHs) e hidrocarbonetos aromáticos policíclicos nitrados (nitro-PAHs). Os PAHs e nitro-PAHs são compostos muito estudados devido às suas propriedades carcinogénicas e/ou mutagénicas para o ser humano e animais. O presente trabalho, tem como objetivo a avaliação dos efeitos tóxicos produzidos por estes poluentes ambientais em Daphnia magna. Foram realizados testes de ecotoxicidade aguda para determinação do EC50 dos seguintes compostos Benzo[a]pireno, 1-Nitropireno, 2-Nitrofluoreno, 9-Nitroantraceno e 3-Nitrofluoranteno. Em relação aos resultados obtidos, no teste com o Benzo[a]pireno, verificou-se que o valor de EC50 indicado na literatura não estava concordante com o valor obtido para este composto, sendo o valor da literatura muito inferior. Em relação ao 1-Nitropireno, constatou-se que o valor de EC50 presente na literatura encontrava-se concordante com o valor obtido. Para os restantes compostos, não se encontrou nenhum valor de EC50 reportado na literatura, o que demonstra a importância do estudo destes compostos (2-Nitrofluoreno, 9- Nitroantraceno e 3-Nitrofluoreno) e da determinação do seu EC50.
