Bem-estar no Antropoceno

Abstract

Assumindo que o ser humano é hoje uma força geológica capaz de realizar profundas alterações ao sistema-Terra que podem colocar em risco a sua própria existência, importa perceber se esta situação geocivilizacional inédita implica ou pode vir a implicar um novo olhar sobre as teorias do bemestar humano. Para estabelecer um quadro de definição sobre o conceito de bem-estar humano analisam-se as suas três principais abordagens: a teoria hedonista, com enfoque no utilitarismo de Bentham e Mill; a teoria da satisfação de preferências/desejos informados; e a teoria da lista objetiva. Numa perspetiva complementar, discutem-se duas alternativas ao atual modelo de desenvolvimento económico que procuram oferecer uma resposta adequada às alterações causadas pelo Antropoceno: a Economia do Decrescimento, que tem como defensor mediático Serge Latouche e a Economia Donut, proposta por Kate Raworth. O objetivo principal da investigação será avaliar se as principais teorias sobre o bem-estar, amplamente estudadas em filosofia política, se acomodam a estes novos modelos de desenvolvimento económico ou se, pelo contrário, será necessário construir uma nova abordagem que incorpore o atual paradigma – seja através de modificações às atuais teorias ou à criação de uma nova. A bússola que orientará as pesquisas será o Modelo dos Limites Planetários desenvolvido pelo Stockholm Resilience Centre.
