Abstract

Esta investigação explorou dois aspetos que têm permanecido ocultos na literatura: o relacionamento interpessoal das reclusas e o efeito do suporte dentro e fora da prisão nessas relações. Para isso, foram entrevistadas 19 mulheres detidas numa prisão portuguesa. Os dados foram analisados através da análise temática e os resultados mostraram que existem dois tipos de relações entre as reclusas: as namoradas e as amigas. Embora tenham diferentes motivações, os propósitos e dinâmicas destas relações são semelhantes. Todas assentam na desconfiança e insegurança e são marcadas pela violência. O ensino e outras atividades favorecem interações positivas, enquanto o trabalho produz rivalidades. Na falta de apoio externo (de familiares e amigos), as reclusas procuram criar laços dentro da prisão que os substituam. Já o apoio do cônjuge parece ser insuficiente, pois várias mulheres envolvem-se simultaneamente em relações homossexuais. Nos casos em que essas relações terminaram após a detenção, as reclusas envolveram-se posteriormente em díades homossexuais. Apesar da ambiguidade, os dados deste estudo aumentam a compreensão do universo prisional feminino, oferecendo novas alternativas para a prática neste contexto.
