Ajustamento psicossocial em adultos com artrite reumatóide

Abstract

Este artigo é um relato parcial de um estudo mais alargado que investiga as variáveis psicológicas na adaptação à doença em adultos com Artrite Reumatóide, A presente investigação debruçou-se sobre o ajustamento psicossocial e as expectativas de auto-eficácia. Os resultados revelam que existe uma diferença significativa entre o grupo de doentes com a doença numa fase activa e o grupo de doentes com a doença numa fase inactiva em ambas as variáveis estudadas. Em termos de ajustamento psicossocial à doença, como seria de esperar, os doentes na fase inactiva têm um melhor ajustamento do que os doentes na fase inactiva. Em termos de auto-eficácia, os indivíduos com a doença numa fase activa revelam menores expectativas de auto-eficácia que os indivíduos com a doença numa fase inactiva. Estas diferenças aplicam-se às sub-escalas da auto-eficácia de funcionamento físico, auto-eficácia para o controlo da dor e auto-eficácia para o controlo de outros sintomas. Implicações ao nível da intervenção são apresentadas bem como a importância dos factores psicossociais na avaliação da artrite reumatóide.
