Retos de las políticas sociales y de bienestar de la infancia en la península ibérica

Abstract

Las condiciones de vida de los niños, niñas y adolescentes (en adelante, NNyA) del espacio ibérico y la falta de oportunidades para acceder a los servicios de bienestar suponen un retroceso en sus derechos fundamentales a la vez que una mayor vulnerabilidad e inequidad social. La degradación de la calidad de las políticas sociales de infancia está destruyendo el progreso social conseguido, situando a altos porcentajes de niños y niñas en situación de pobreza y/o exclusión social. Erradicar la alta desigualdad social que enfrentan los NNyA de España y Portugal y lograr su inclusión social solo podrá concebirse desde una ciudadanía activa y democrática, desde el ejercicio protagónico de sus derechos, frente a una acción política que evite el retroceso de los derechos de la infancia y de la adolescencia. El presente trabajo realiza un análisis de la alta desigualdad social que enfrenta la infancia de España y Portugal y las acciones políticas débiles e individualistas, identificando la capacidad de la práctica del Trabajo Social, con perspectiva de derechos del niño, para potenciar y orientar el empoderamiento de la infancia y de la adolescencia y construir su bienestar integral.
