Given the growing emphasis on building and managing the buyer-supplier relationship as a basis for sustainable competitive advantage, a systematic investigation of the conditions of this relationship is required. In particular, at the level of subcontracting or outsourcing processes. However, companies still do not recognize the importance of a more careful study and knowledge of subcontracting or outsourcing processes, which has implicit and explicit inherent costs. This research project sought to study and understand this issue considering the perspective of purchasing, supply chain management and the theory of transaction costs, where these costs that are often imperceptible or that receive reduced are addressed and identified outsourcing organizations. Transaction cost theory has emerged as a dominant theory in the analysis of contractual relationships between companies. This perspective recognizes that in exchange processes friction is generated, which in turn generates transaction costs. The goal is to minimize such costs, whether performing activities within the company or acquiring them in the market, which will depend on the costs generated in different situations or alternatives. In this work we studied the transaction costs associated with the outsourcing processes at Bosch Car Multimedia, and verified the applicability of the concepts presented in the literature. Four base cases were studied, representative of the different outsourcing situations, and an analysis of the key factors that distinguished them was performed; It has been found that the company's capacity is proportionally related to the costs associated with the outsourcing process. The decision of organizations to carry out their activities internally or externally must be analyzed from not only the cost point of view, but also considering the quality of service and the level of risk associated with each situation.
