Características demográficas de famílias maltratantes e tipos de maus-tratos infantis

Abstract

A protecção à infância e à família tem sofrido, ao longo dos anos, profundas transformações culturais e sociais. Nesta investigação é estudada a relação entre tipos de maus-tratos e características das famílias, nomeadamente abuso de substâncias (álcool e drogas) disfuncionalidades parentais/monoparentalidade, pobreza e problemas de saúdes. Foram consultados 115 processos de Promoção e Protecção, a partir da base de dados da Comissão Nacional de Promoção dos Direitos e Protecção das Crianças e Jovens, entre o período temporal de 2012 a 2015. Genericamente, os resultados desta investigação mostram que não existe uma associação estatisticamente significativa entre as características da família maltratante e os tipos de maus-tratos. Porém, confirmam a coocorrência, nas famílias estudadas, de múltiplos factores de risco, os quais evidenciam a complexidade das situações de maus-tratos.
