O interdiscurso ambiental no discurso político contemporâneo em Portugal

The environmental interdiscourse in portuguese contemporary political speech
Authors: Ramos, Rui;

O interdiscurso ambiental no discurso político contemporâneo em Portugal

Abstract

The present study aims at identifying evidence of interdiscursivity between two important discursive fields in the contemporary Portuguese public sphere: the environmental discourse and the political discourse. To this end, it analyses electoral programs / manifestos issued by the political parties represented in the Portuguese Parliament, during the legislative elections of 2002, 2005 and 2009. It focuses mainly on the concepts of frame and interpretive repertoire, with special emphasis on the way the formula "sustainable development" operates. The conclusion points to the fact that environmental discourse crosses the political discourse, but the treatment that the different political parties make of environmentalism manifests significant ideological differences.
