Abstract

Uma vasta literatura tem referido uma coocorrência entre o comportamento alimentar desadaptativo e o consumo de substâncias (álcool e/ou drogas), tal como a impulsividade, em particular a urgência negativa, tem sido referenciada como um fator de risco e um preditor para estes comportamentos. O presente estudo pretendeu verificar a frequência de atitudes e comportamentos característicos das perturbações do comportamento alimentar e do consumo de substâncias; aferir às diferenças entre o sexo dos participantes; e averiguar a existência de correlações e efeitos diretos entre as atitudes e os comportamentos alimentares, o índice de massa corporal, o consumo de substâncias e a urgência negativa, entre a população universitária de nacionalidade portuguesa. Os resultados obtidos revelaram: frequências superiores às prevalências nacionais, quer nas atitudes e determinados comportamentos alimentares desadaptativos, quer nos consumos; que as atitudes e os comportamentos alimentares, tal como a urgência negativa foram mais frequentes nas mulheres, enquanto o consumo de substâncias foi mais comum nos homens; que não se verificaram correlações significativas entre as atitudes, os comportamentos alimentares e os consumos; porém, a urgência negativa surgiu como preditor das atitudes do comportamento alimentar, da ingestão alimentar compulsiva e do consumo de drogas.
