Bracara Augusta: rituais e espaços funerários

Abstract

Nos últimos anos temos vindo a realizar um trabalho de investigação em torno das necrópoles romanas, espaços sagrados que se desenvolveram em torno da periferia da cidade de Bracara Augusta, que registam uma ampla cronologia de utilização, entre a transição da Era e a Antiguidade Tardia. Com este artigo pretendemos dar a conhecer as particularidades dos contextos sepulcrais romanos reconhecidos até ao momento nas escavações realizadas em Braga - Portugal, evidências essas, recuperadas a partir da análise das sepulturas, dos momentos funerários, bem como do espólio votivo associado aos distintos rituais funerários que se sucedem entre finais do século I a.C. e o século VII. Pretendemos ainda abordar as alterações ocorridas na topografia funerária ao longo dos períodos cronológicos mencionados.
