Representações da infância no manual escolar em Portugal

Abstract

O presente estudo inscreve-se no âmbito dos Estudos da Criança e elege a sua área específica nas questões linguísticas, assumindo os pressupostos teóricos e metodológicos da Análise do Discurso, considerando igualmente o influxo de áreas conexas. Analisa textos de manuais escolares (livros didáticos) e pretende tornar visíveis as imagens que tais textos constroem das crianças e da infância, assim como os recursos linguísticos mais relevantes associados a tal construção.Conclui que as crianças retratadas nos textos são seres sem voz e sem poder, consumidoras mas não coprodutoras de cultura, e que os textos inculcam valores conformadores, de manutenção da ordem social estabelecida. Apresenta sumariamente o conjunto das estratégias linguísticas mais relevantes para que os textos atinjam os objetivos ilocutórios propostos.
