Melhoria da durabilidade do betão com cinzas volantes

Abstract

A procura da melhoria do desempenho dos betões recorrendo à incorporação de componentes que, sempre que possível, contribuam para resolver problemas ambientais de uma forma simples e económica, tem sido um dos impulsionadores das recentes inovações relativas à produção deste material, enquadrado o numa perspectiva de desenvolvimento sustentável. É neste contexto que este trabalho se insere, tentando contribuir para o esclarecimento das vantagens e desvantagens do fabrico de betões com incorporação de cinzas volantes e agregados britados. Desta forma, é possível reduzir significativamente o consumo de cimento e preservar os recursos naturais existentes, bem como diminuir as consequências adversas associadas à extracção de agregados, designadamente de areias, do leito dos rios, estuários e costa marítima.
