Abstract

Em termos económicos, o desenvolvimento das nações está intimamente ligado ao consumo e ao preço da energia. Na verdade, as oscilações que ocorrem no preço da energia repercutem-se directamente em todos os subsectores das actividades económicas com grande impacto nos cidadãos, como por exemplo os transportes, os bens alimentares ou a saúde. Neste contexto, os países do ocidente terão que saber gerir a longa e árdua transição para um modelo energético menos dependente do petróleo e dos combustíveis fósseis. É com este diagnóstico de crescentes preocupações geoestratégicas, de subida de preços com o petróleo (e todos os seus derivados) e de limitação de emissões de CO2 (Protocolo de Quioto), que é impreterível a utilização de outras fontes de energia renováveis como por exemplo a energia solar fotovoltaica. Esta monografia descreve os principais componentes dos sistemas fotovoltaicos e apresenta um procedimento conducente ao projecto e dimensionamento de sistemas fotovoltaicos autónomos e ligados à rede de distribuição de electricidade.
