Energia incorporada em materiais de construção versus energia operacional

Abstract

O consumo de energia é um dos desafios mais importantes com que se confronta Portugal. Por um lado devido ao facto da maior parte dessa energia ser importada e por outro porque uma parte significativa da mesma é produzida em centrais termoeléctricas. Esse facto implica a emissão de gases responsáveis por efeito de estufa, dificultando o cumprimento de limites acordados a nível internacional. Tornam-se por isso necessárias investigações que permitam minimizar o consumo de energia nos edifícios. No presente artigo apresentam-se resultados de um caso de estudo sobre os consumos energéticos (operacionais e incorporados nos materiais) de um edifício com 97 apartamentos. Os resultados obtidos mostram que a parcela de energia incorporada nos materiais é pouco relevante quando comparada com a energia operacional. Contudo e à medida que os edifícios se tornam mais eficientes em termos energéticos, a parcela de energia incorporada vai aumentando até se tornar preponderante.
