Dilbilimsel kuram edebiyatta genellikle şiir incelemelerinde kullanılan bir yöntemdir. Biçimsel nitelikleri yönünden şiiri andıran ninnileri de bu kuram dâhilinde ele almak mümkündür. Bu çalışmada ninni türünün bir örneği, “yüzey yapı” özellikleri açısından, dilbilimsel kuram yardımıyla çözümlenecektir. “Yüzey yapı” incelenen metinde yer alan sözcüklerin gramer açıdan sınıflandırılması ve buna bağlı olarak niceliklerinin ortaya konulması, sözcük tekrarları, ölçü ve noktalama işaretleri gibi biçimsel özellikleri ve ninnide geçen sözcüklerin gramatikal değerleri dikkate alınarak tespit edilmektedir. “Yüzey yapı” verileri, uygulama yapılan ninninin içerik ve işlevine yönelik çıkarsamalarda bulunulabileceğini göstermesi açısından önem taşır. Ağırlıklı olarak anne ile çocuk arasındaki iletişimin yansıtıldığı ninnilerin temel işlevi çocuğun uyutulmasıdır. Dilbilimsel yaklaşım, ninnilerin temel işlevine ve bunun yanı sıra toplumsallaşma evresinde, çocuğuna rehber olan annenin veya çocuğun hayatındaki bir başka yetişkinin beklentilerini dile getirmesi gibi başka işlevlere ulaşmayı da olanaklı kılar. Sonuç olarak, ninnilerin de dilbilimsel yöntemle okunabileceği görüşü ortaya atılırken biçimden anlama ninninin içerik ve işlevine varılmaya çalışılacaktır. Linguistic theory is a method that usually employed for analyzing poetry. Given this, it seems possible to examine lullabies, which stand similar to poems as far as their form is concerned, within the framework of linguistic theory. In this paper, an example of lullaby genre will be analyzed in terms of “surface structure” by appeal to linguistic theory. “Surface structure” is determined by taking notice of words which are in the examined text and therefore reveal of their quantity, repetition of words, meter and punctuation marks like formal qualities and the grammatical values of the words that are in the lullaby. The data of “surface structure” is important to show deduction for the content and function of lullaby that applied. Predominantly, the main function of lullabies which reflect the relationship between mother and child is to make child sleep. The linguistic approach, makes possible to reach the main function of lullabies and also the other functions like to mention the expectations of mother who is a guide to her child in socialization stage and to mention the expectations of other adults. As a result, while coming up with the idea to read lullabies with linguistic theory, it will be tried to reach up the content and function of the lullaby from form to meaning.
