Abstract

After pinpointing the way in which Yaracuy State was constituted, and the indian origin of its local medicine, medical practice during XVIIth century in this territory is reviewed, with special reference to paramedical staff predominance and the beginning of industrial medicine in Venezuela. The first people from Yaracuy State who studied and graduated in medicine are mentioned, as well as outstanding personalities until present century.
