El texto que se presenta es una contribución parcial, aunque significativa, de lo que representa María para los consagrados. Se han analizado más de 100 documentos de la vida consagrada provenientes del Vaticano II, del Magisterio Pontificio y de la Congregación para los Institutos de vida consagrada y las Sociedades de vida apostólica (Aparicio, 2009)1, además de las Conferencias Generales del Episcopado Latinoamericano (Consejo Episcopal Latinoamericano, 2014).El universo de estudio, sin embargo, es mucho más amplio. Si quisiéramos formarnos una visión global del significado de María para los religiosos deberíamos acercarnos a la manera en que los Fundadores y las mismas Ordenes y Congregaciones religiosas han visto a María (De Cándico & Pardilla, 2001) y cómo las Constituciones antiguas y renovadas (De Cándido & Pardilla, 2004) reflejan esa percepción, además de tomar en consideración las reflexiones específicas de cada institución sobre su posición mariana.

Abstract This paper is a small, but significant, contribution to what Mary represents for the consecrated. Over 100 documents of consecrated life from the Second Vatican Council, Pontifical Magisterium and the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (Aparicio, 2009)2 were analyzed, as well as the General Conferences of the Latin American Bishops (Latin America Episcopal Council 2014). If we wish an overview of the meaning of Maria for the religious, we should approach the way in which the Founders and the religious Orders and Congregations themselves have seen Maria (De Cándico & Pardilla, 2001) and how the most ancient and renovated Constitutions (De Cándido & Pardilla, 2004) reflect this perception, in addition to taking into consideration the specific reflections of each institution on their Marian position.
