Evliya Çelebi, 1671-1672 yılları arasında Afyonkarahisar’ a gelmiş ve şehrin tarihini, sosyal ve kültürel hayatını gözleyerek, kendine has üslûbuyla aktarmıştır. Evliya Çelebi, Seyahatnamesi’nde “Karahisar Sahip” adı verilen kalenin özelliklerini, askerlerinin düzenini, nasıl inşa edildiğini, Türklerin eline nasıl geçtiğini, içindeki binaları, çevresindeki evleri, dükkânları, mescitleri ayrıntılı olarak anlatmıştır. Bu bilgileri kendisinden öğrendiğimiz Evliya Çelebi gibi çok gezen, gördüğü her yeri ayrıntılarıyla yazıya geçiren bir seyyaha sahip olduğumuz için çok şanslıyız. Evliya Çelebi visited Afyonkarahisar between 1671 and 1672. He viewed historical, cultural and social living of the city during that time and he used to explain his own special words (uslub). Evliya Çelebi had describe to detailed features of castle which called “Karahisar Sahip”, order of soldier in the castle, how has constructed? How has caught by Turks?, and also buildings in the castle and houses, shops, and small Mosques around the castle in his books so called “Seyahatname”. We are fortunate because of Evliya Çelebi. He was often traveled and wrote every lands with details so we have been leamed this information from him.
