Abstract

Introducendo il carteggio fra Caetani e Becker, l'autore discute alcuni problemi essenziali della concezione caetaniana della storia islamica, soffermandosi in part. sulla questione della patria originaria dei Semiti. Da questa prospettiva si rende possibile un breve rimando ad alcune figure dell'assiriologia tedesca, in particolare a Hugo Winckler. L'intenzione primaria dell'autore è quella di rilevare la dimensione storico-universale della concezione storica di Caetani e di Becker.
