Analogia dell'Essere

Abstract

Il volume ripercorre le linee filosofiche dell'ontologia e della matafisica di Francisco Suàrez, con uno sviluppo a livello teoretico delle sue idee fondamentali. Il lavoro presenta il valore degli scritti di questo grande pensatore in relazione sia al mondo medievale, a cui appartiene la sua cultura, sia a quello moderno, a cui implicitamente egli si rivolge. Benché, infatti, Suàrez abbia proposto un pensiero filosofico intrinsecamente legato alle dispute scolastiche, egli ha avuto anche la capacità storica di riproporne i contenuti in modo originale e sintetico, parlando, in qualche modo, il linguaggio della modernità. L'autore rintraccia sia la genesi della metafisica suareziana, sia l'evoluzione che la sua linea ermeneutica ha compiuto nei secoli successivi, con un breve sguardo al dibattito analitico ed epistemologico contemporaneo. Al filosofo spagnolo è concesso, in definitiva, un ruolo strategico per comprendere non soltanto l'attualità della filosofia medievale, ma anche il modo in cui, mediante essa, possono essere date delle risposte attuali e convincenti ai problemi sollevati nel presente. Suàrez, in questo contesto, appare la figura di un grande "maestro", un punto di riferimento da considerarsi classico nella storia della filosofia europea.
