Electrospun materials for soundproofing

Abstract

A special session of ICMAMS is dedicated to the research activities carried out about the innovative materials proposed in CASTLE (CAbin Systems design Toward passenger welLbEing) Clean-Sky2 Project. The main aim of CASTLE is to improve the cabin comfort of regional and business aircrafts. Innovative technologies are proposed to follow this objective; in particular, the study of environmental-friendly materials and soundproofing materials will be presented in this session. Regarding the specific acoustic requirement, one of the solutions considered in CASTLE is the use of metamaterials which are finding transversal applications in several physical and engineering fields: mechanical, acoustical, optical and electromagnetic. The research about the metamaterials in their different uses will be also considered and discussed.
