Continuidades, discontinuidades e interacciones interculturales en el desarrollo cultural prehispánico de la selva El Ocote, Chiapas

Abstract

El capítulo está dedicado a la descripción de la trayectoria histórico-cultural prehispánica de la Selva El Ocote (Oeste de Chiapas, México) así como reconstruida con base en las investigaciones del autor. En lo particular, se reflexiona sobre los momentos de mayor discontinuidad en el marco de la mencionada trayectoria y sobre los cambios que a lo largo de los siglos afectaron las redes de relaciones de diversas clases (políticas, comerciales, etc.) que unían el Oeste de Chiapas a regiones contiguas como la Baja Costa del Golfo, el Oriente de Oaxaca y la Depresión Central de Chiapas. Con base en estas observaciones, el artículo trata entonces de contextualizar la trayectoria cultural del Oeste de Chiapas en el más amplio marco de la región del Istmo Mayor de México.
