It scrutinizes the memory of the Prophet Muhammad in Medina and Jerusalem and deals with the possible rationale for the location of mosques in the early period. Finally it discusses the case of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, a good case study for analyzing the rise of an Islamic sacred landscape within the timeframe of the early middle ages.
