Metodologie sperimentali applicate agli strumenti musicali

Abstract

In questo capitolo verranno analizzati alcuni metodi sperimentali utilizzati per la determinazione del comportamento fisico-acustico degli strumenti musicali. Più propriamente verranno analizzati i principali metodi sperimentali per lo studio meccanico-acustico degli strumenti musicali. E’ pertanto necessario puntualizzare che tali misurazioni rappresentano solo una piccola parte di una vasta gamma di misurazioni di svariato tipo che possono essere condotte negli strumenti musicali. Esistono infatti svariate metodologie di indagine che coinvolgono diverse competenze. Ad esempio lo studio fluidodinamico del moto dei fluidi viscosi comprimibili (miscele di aria e vapore) nelle ancie e successivamente nel tubo sonoro, oppure il comportamento chimico-fisico dei materiali impiegati nella costruzione delle casse armoniche, od anche l’indagine elettro-magnetica sulla costituzione interna degli strumenti musicali (radiografie o TAC), od ancora indagini storiche e/o organologiche effettuate mediante datazione (carbonio 14) o studio dendrocronologico del legno. Queste indagini risultano assai importanti per lo studio completo e la comprensione degli strumenti musicali, così come appare impensabile affrontare una tematica talmente ampia e complessa senza una approfondita conoscenza storica, organologica ed anche, perché no, musicale degli strumenti.
