Abstract

I contributi sono dedicati principalmente a Simone dei Crocefissi e a Michele di Matteo, attivi rispettivamente dal 1340 al 1400 e dal 1420 al 1470 circa; la successione delle schede dedicate ai due autori, in mancanza di monografie a loro dedicate, costituisce di fatto un tentativo di ricostruzione globale delle loro carriere, con l'analisi dei principali problemi che li riguardano (la formazione di Simone nell'orbita di Vitale da Bologna, la sua produzione tarda e la bottega, il "ritardo" formale di Michele di Matteo rispetto al nascente Rinascimento). Compaiono anche schede dedicate a pittori bolognesi anonimi vicini a Vitale da Bologna (n. 31), a un artista fiorentino affine in qualche modo al 'Maestro della Misericordia' (n. 52), e a due maestri minori del primo Rinascimento (nn. 89 e 94).
