Quantum valet. I valori della moda nei secoli XIII-XIV

Abstract

Quale impatto ebbe la moda nei primi due secoli della sua comparsa? Questo volume risponde alla domanda esplorando i valori economici, politici, sociali e culturali che il fenomeno assunse nei secoli XIII e XIV. Attraverso un’indagine comparativa che coinvolge le città dell’Italia centrosettentrionale, il Regno di Napoli, la Normandia e i regni della Penisola iberica, i saggi qui raccolti dimostrano come la moda rappresenti una lente per interpretare la società tardomedievale. L’analisi di un ricco corpus di fonti documentarie ne rivela infatti la pervasività, aprendo nuove prospettive di ricerca sull’esame di prezzi, salari, consumi, innovazioni, dinamiche produttive e commerciali nei settori del tessile e del cuoio. Grazie a un inedito approccio di studio, questo volume contribuisce ad arricchire la conoscenza di fenomeni cruciali per lo sviluppo economico e sociale europeo, svelando il ruolo e i valori che tessuti, vesti e calzature occuparono nella vita delle persone e nell’economia delle città.
