Data processing requires clear objectives and overall vision, communication of outcomes requires simplification. The graphic representation gives visible form to the concept of "analysis and synthesis of data". The contribution presents in the form of methodological notes some explorations in the field of information and visualization as tools of elaboration for knowledge. Some notable references, definitions and examples are given, from which considerations are extended trying to bring the principles of visual communication back to the representation sciences and drawing for engineers and architects.
