Tecnologia e potenzialità dei sistemi geotermici a bassa entalpia

Abstract

Il riscaldamento globale e la crescente domanda di combustibili fossili stanno fornendo una spinta notevole alla diffusione delle fonti energetiche rinnovabili e a bassa emissione di gas serra. La climatizzazione degli edifici rappresenta la parte più importante dei consumi energetici mondiali, ed è quindi fondamentale implementare in questo campo soluzioni tecniche di risparmio energetico e impianti che utilizzano fonti di energia rinnovabile, tra le quali la geotermia a bassa entalpia. Le pompe di calore geotermiche, che scambiano calore con il terreno o con l’acqua di falda, non producono emissioni inquinanti sul posto. Se correttamente dimensionate, permettono consistenti risparmi economici, di energia primaria e di emissioni di gas serra. A differenza di altre fonti rinnovabili, la loro applicabilità è pressoché universale. In questo articolo si descrivono le tecnologie e i principali metodi di dimensionamento degli impianti di geoscambio, mostrando i vantaggi e gli svantaggi di ciascuna soluzione, i benefici e i rischi ambientali legati alla loro applicazione.
