Simulation of district heating operation with heat storage systems

Abstract

Considering the global energy situation, in the perspective of sustainable development the use of technologies and systems that reduce environmental impact and allow high primary energy savings is essential. Among these technologies, an important role is played by combined heat and power plants integrated with district heating systems. This study aims to develop a simulation model capable of evaluating the future thermal requirements of a district heating system and of assessing how the requirements will be met using different generation plants and heat storages.
