A technical analysis of the environmental aspects related to the nuclear weapons proliferation implications of inertial (ICF) and magnetic (MCF) confinement fusion systems is performed, substantiating the main technical points, and showing that while full access to the physics of thermonuclear weapons is the main implication of ICF, full access to large scale tritium technology is the main proliferation impact of MCF, which, however, shows lower proliferation problems than ICF.
