Conservare la nostra tradizione architettonica: l’hinterland di Guido Canella

Abstract

I due progetti illustrati in questo saggio, il Centro civico di Segrate (1963-66) e il Quartiere residenziale IACP a Bollate (1974-81), documentano un caso, non particolarmente frequente, in cui l’autore dell’opera, Guido Canella, è anche il progettista dell’intervento di restauro resosi necessario per l’erosione del tempo e per una manutenzione evidentemente insufficiente. L’aspetto forse più interessante è che, coincidendo autore dell’opera e progettista del restauro, l’intervento proposto non si limita alla conservazione edilizia ma prevede anche una ridestinazione funzionale compatibile con quella originaria e tale da prolungare nell’oggi la dimensione pubblica e collettiva e la caratura rappresentativa di queste due opere, entrambe attualmente sottoposte, per iniziativa della Soprintendenza, al vincolo di “importante carattere artistico” (ai sensi della L. 633/41”) e che figurano tra le più rappresentative della storia dell’architettura italiana del Novecento.
