“Independencia nacional y regionalismo: la mirada supranacional de Juana Manuela Gorriti”

Abstract

Juana Manuela Gorriti (1818–1892) nasce negli anni delle lotte per l’indipendenza in una famiglia votata alla causa nazionale che, in epoca rosista, è condannata all’esilio in Bolivia per la militanza unitaria del padre, il Generale José Ignacio Gorriti. Il precoce matrimonio con Manuel Isidoro Belzu, militare di carriera e uomo politico boliviano, e l’ulteriore necessario trasferimento in Perù intrecciano le vicende personali di Gorriti con la Storia delle nascenti nazioni ispanoamericane. La traiettoria umana della scrittrice la porta, quindi, a contatto con le gesta indipendentiste di tre paesi, dove si inserisce nel travaglio intellettuale e di formazione nazionale godendo, per appartenenza familiare e vicissitudini personali, di un osservatorio privilegiato e di un ruolo di comprimaria sulla scena storico-politica e culturale di quegli anni. Di quella pagina di storia Gorriti rende le atmosfere e l’idealità in una narrativa di ampio respiro e dalla privilegiata ottica panamericana. Scopo di questo lavoro è analizzare come l’esperienza familiare e individuale, il vissuto regionale e sovranazionale e, non ultimo, lo sguardo femminile, incidano nella rappresentazione della nascente identità nazionale argentina, e consentano un’inaspettata sensibilità per il coevo anelito indipendentista italiano.
