Abstract

El proyecto de este libro nace de la voluntad de poner el acento, cuando se cumplen los treinta años de la publicación de su primera novela (Bajar es lo peor, 1995), en la escritura de una de las plumas más reconocibles e influyentes del panorama literario en lengua española. Esta afirmación se basa en el contagio viral provocado por el foco infeccioso de su irresistible lectura tercermundista de un género literario que, también gracias a ella, se ha convertido en una vía de acceso privilegiada hacia el relato de nuestra contemporaneidad desbandada (de capitalismo gore y apocalipsis ambientales): el que, privilegiando su pedigrí histórico afincado en los sueños de la razón dieciochescos y en los pliegues más perturbadores del romanticismo, se denomina "gótico", y, en cambio, reivindicando sus connivencias "populares", su empaste po, circula bajo el rótulo "horror". Los que aquí se mapean, entonces, son los cambios hacia un terror latinoamericano: el que la poética de Mariana Enriquez, inventandose desde la nada una tradición, magistralmente descubre.
