Il contributo delinea sinteticamente le principali caratteristiche linguistiche e stilistico-metriche della produzione volgare di Petrarca, puntando sul concetto di discontinuità della scrittura lirica petrarchesca nei confronti della tradizione passata, e mettendo in luce – diversamente dalla vulgata critica – il tasso di dantismo presente nel Canzoniere.
