Abstract

Il volume affronta lo studio delle strade colonnate nelle città della Cilicia romana, affrontando il tema dal punto di vista urbanistico e architettonico. I siti analizzati sono: Epiphaneia, Hierapolis Kastabala, Anazarbos, Augusta, Tarsos, Soloi-Pompeiopolis in Cilicia Pedias e Seleukeia, Diokaisareia, Antiocheia sul Kragos in Cilicia Tracheia. Le vie colonnate, nate in Siria agli inzi del I sec. d.C., costituiscono una caratteristica tipica del paesaggio urbano dell'impero romano orientale e racchiudono in sé le valenze di utilitas e decor.
