In 1924, when he was a student at Accademia Scientifico Letteraria in Milan and was preparing Italian Literature exam on Leopardi’s Canti under the teaching of Michele Scherillo, Gadda wrote three notebooks on Leopardi’s poetry and Operette morali. Here are the notes of the first two notebooks, where Gadda wrote his reflections on Leopardi’s Pensieri, Zibaldone and Canti, showing a deep sympathy towords the Recanati’s poet, also because his biography, and the affinity of his familiar situation.
Nel 1924, studente all'Accademia Scientifico Letteraria di Milano, Gadda prepara l'esame di Letteratura Italiana sotto la guida di Michele Scherillo, su un corso dedicato ai Canti di Leopardi. In quella occasione scrive tre quaderni di appunti dedicati alla poesia del recanatese, allo Zibaldone e ai Pensieri, rivelando acutezza di visione critica, ma anche una certa affinità con la condizione familiare leopardiana, rivissuta autobiograficamente.
