Abstract

Eduardo Lourenço, one of the greatest living Portuguese essayists and critics, wrote that the only legitimate guide the work of Pessoa is Pessoa himself. The dissemination of his work is still based on a number of critical myths, born soon after the death of the great poet and never completely eradicated, first of all, that he is an author tied exclusively to posthumous fame and virtually ignored in life, died destitute and misunderstood. More careful studies have shown that its magnitude was already clear from the published works in life, from the brilliant poetry linked to the invention of the heteronyms. The book is a quick and effective guide at the entrance of the Pessoa's universe, using the most recent critical and scientific acquisitions. Starting from the historical and biographical context, conditions and places where his works were published, you will come to a careful analysis of the many critical clues that the writer himself has left and the most important works published
