Abstract

The book offers a concise introduction to the three movements, responsible for a fundamental break in the tradition of the avant-garde. The disruption of the relationship between pictorial signs and actually initiated by De Chirico and the challenge of purifying dada have led to a decisive conceptual gap, which was the starting Bretonian the investigation of the unconscious. Through a broad survey of the critical literature internationally, focusing the central themes of recent historiography such as the relationship between tradition and modernity, the artist's confrontation with the market and the consumer society, the political value of protest dada, the power of 'photographic image in mass communication.
