Abstract

The maritime transport of pilgrims going to the Holy Land knows between three hundred and five hundred moments of decline due to the Venetian-Ottoman wars and the ambushes of privateers and pirates. The Reformation also helped to reduce the journeys of pilgrims who in the seventeenth century ceased to be a phenomenon of considerable importance

Il trasporto marittimo dei pellegrini diretti in Terra Santa conosce tra Trecento e Cinquecento momenti di flessione dovuti alle guerre veneto-ottomane e agli agguati di corsari e pirati. Anche la Riforma contribuì a diradare i viaggi dei pellegrini che nel Seicento cessarono di essere un fenomeno di notevole rilevanza
