After a short introduction about the opposition between realism/absolutism and scepticism/relativism in moral contemporary philosophy, the paper focuses on the Greek roots of such a problem and especially on Sextus Empiricus’ ethical scepticism. Apart from the ‘moral descriptive relativism’ of the tenth trope (Outlines of Pyrrhonism, 1.145-163), a careful analysis is devoted to his Against the Ethicists, where we find both the systematic destruction of values and the pyrrhonian moral proposal, intended as a reply to any charge of inactivity and a genuine recipe for attaining the final goal of eudaimonia, available for us at any time and place.
