Abstract

Il progetto ATHENA (Ancient Theatres Enhancement for New Actualities) — 1 febbraio 2009 / 31 gennaio 2013; Budget € 1.755.068,00; www.athenaproject.eu — è un’iniziativa Euromed volta a rafforzare la cooperazione e le idee tra l’Europa e i paesi arabi del Mediterraneo nel campo dello sviluppo dei teatri antichi e del loro rapporto con le istituzioni e le comunità della società civile. Il progetto ATHENA è sostenuto e finanziato nell’ambito del programma Euromed Heritage IV dalla Commissione Europea e supervisionato dalla sua Unità Regionale di Monitoraggio e Supporto (RMSU). Il progetto ATHENA si basa su una nuova strategia culturale delineata nelle ricerche degli ultimi dieci anni, ogni teatro, infatti, può sempre essere considerato come parte di un più ampio sito archeologico o di un contesto urbano; molto spesso il teatro rappresenta il ‘nucleo’ di questi ambienti e, quindi, un forte polo di attrazione per il pubblico.

The ATHENA Project (Ancient Theatres Enhancement for New Actualities) — 1 February 2009 / 31 January 2013; Budget € 1.755.068,00; www.athenaproject.eu — is a Euromed initiative designed to bolster cooperation and ideas between Europe and Arab countries across the Mediterranean in the field of Ancient Theatre development and their relationship with civil society institutions and communities. The ATHENA Project is supported and funded under the Euromed Heritage IV program by the European Commission and supervised by its Regional Monitoring and Support Unit (RMSU). ATHENA Project is based on new cultural strategy outlined in the last ten years’ researches each theatre, in fact, can always be considered as part of a wider archaeological site or of an urban context; very often the theatre represents the ‘core’ of these environments and a strong pole of attraction for the public.
