Antonio Rincón was ambassador of the Kingdom of France in the Otto- man Empire (1538-1541). The diplomat had been sent to Istanbul in the con- text of the Franco-Ottoman alliance against the Habsburgs. The ambassador found himself in a complex situation due to the truce between Francis I and Charles V. He understood the negative effects that this news would produce, and the risks that his person might take. This situation lasted for several months and his study revealed all the difficulties that Rincón had to face.
